Learning is the Greatest Pleasure




[T]o be learning something is the greatest of pleasures not only to the philosopher but also to the rest of mankind, however small their capacity for it.


This touches on Aristotle's idea that learning and contemplation is at the core of a happy life, and that this is true not only for philosophers, but for everybody. Plays are a way for people of even limited learning abilities to learn something about themselves and the world, and that is one reason for their universal appeal.

Listen to Your Body


"The splitting pressure in his skull meant...an urge to action."


This is a bit of a non-sequitur in relation to the philosophy that Rand usually espouses, but I thought it was interesting, and something I have been thinking about. That a headache (or backache, or any emotional "ache") is our intuition urging us to action.
