every accent, every emphasis, every modulation of voice, was so perfectly well turn'd and well plac'd...This is an advantage itinerant preachers have over those who are stationary...the latter cannot improve their delivery of a sermon by so many rehearsals.

Franklin on why travelling preachers can be so charming. They are often giving the same sermon over and over. Practice, practice, practice. Kind of reminds me of Jesus Christ, another famous itinerant preacher.

Single-Minded Focus

I have always thought that one man of tolerable abilities may work great changes, and accomplish great affairs among mankind, if he first forms a good plan, and, cutting off all amusements or other employments that would divert his attention, makes the execution of that same plan his sole study and business.

I think I've heard this before :) Purpose. Single-minded focus. "you can accomplish anything if you put your mind to it", etc. Who knew it was really true:)
