his Margites in fact stands in the same relation to our comedies as the Illiad and Odyssey to our Tragedies.


You learn something new everyday. We all know that the Illiad and Odyssey are two great works by Homer. In this essay, Aristotle mentions another of Homer's works: Margites, which was a Comedy. Unfortunately, this work, which Aristotle thought was superior to all the other Greek Comedies, has been lost somewhere in the mist of history. Maybe one day a copy will be discovered!
