This is it. These are the books you've heard about all your life, but will never have the time to read. These are the books that have shaped our culture. The books that get brought up at dinner parties and other social events, but you embarrassingly keep quiet because you have nothing to say about them. Now you will.

The reason that these books are considered the Great Books (or as I like to call them, the Timeless Books) is because they are filled with Great (Timeless) Ideas. They are books that speak to us on an emotional level. They oftentimes don't sit well with us. These are the books that teach us something about ourselves, about human nature, and about the world. Think about it: there is a reason that these books have persisted through time.

These are the books that tackle the questions at the core of our existence. The books that try to understand, advance, and improve the human condition. And they are almost always still relevant to our modern lives.

But you're in luck, because I am doing all the hard work for you! I will read all those books and glean from them the best ideas, and present them to you in a fun, easy to read format in everyday language (as opposed to a boring, academic format, ech!) Now you'll know

Why am I doing this? To be honest, I am mostly doing this for myself. You see, I love ideas, and I love knowledge, and I love books. One of my passions in life is to understand the history of the knowledge and ideas of humanity. I love to read, and I want an easy to reference digest of all the best ideas from the books that I have read (it's okay, you can call me a bookworm, a nerd, an egghead, whatever...I don't care!).

So why publish it all on a website? Well, to be honest, my hope is that I can, over time, establish a community of like minded people that also have a passion for the classics. This site is my first attempt at that. I envision gathering a following of readers who enjoy and profit off of my work. Of those readers, a subset will wish to engage in discussion about these works. In time, a discussion forum will be built, and there will be a continual discussion for every classical work. I have scourged the internet, and there are many book clubs, but most are devoted to contemporary works. This will change. I have faith. "If you build it, they will come."

If you would like to know why I am reading these books (and why I think you should read at least a few of them with me), check out my article Why Read Timeless Books?
